Analysis of Municipal Solid Waste Composition
Novák, Michal ; Kropáč, Jiří (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
This diploma thesis provides extensive research of municipal solid waste studies and methodologies from all over the world. Firstly, the studies are described in general and then divided into several groups depending on the principle of their working practices, including their advantages and disadvantages. Secondly, the studies are divided by geographic areas. The results of the individual studies are presented and compared. Based on the findings in the thesis, appropriate methodology for municipal solid waste analysis in the Czech Republic is proposed.
Application of stochastic programming methods for the purpose of energy producing system
Šomplák, Radovan ; Mrázková, Eva (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of the strategic investment in the waste-to-energy plant development. The central supply of heat and the incineration plant connection can be provided for example by the distribution network. The objective is to find financially feasible solution regarding uncertain development of waste management and energy market. A heat supplies to district heating network significantly influences the strategic decision. A two-stage stochastic programming based on the scenarios and the GAMS software were applied to solve this task. The main contribution of this thesis is decision on crucial parameters of the waste-to-energy plant.
Modeling the Impacts of Changes in Waste Management on Key Technologies
Jadrný, Josef ; Suzová, Jana (referee) ; Weidlich, Tomáš (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The doctoral thesis focuses on waste management planning in the Czech Republic with regard to key technologies. The operation of processing facilities is influenced by strategic documents that reflect the legislative framework of the EU and the Czech Republic. Due to the introduction of new principles and evaluation criteria, it is necessary to regularly update the Waste Management Plan at the state and regional level, according to the Waste Act No. 541/2020 Coll. When creating new strategic documents, emphasis should be placed on the use of available computing tools, inter-regional cooperation and the specific formulation of goals and measures. The individual goals of waste management must be taken into account when operating existing facilities and also when planning the necessary infrastructure. The attention in this text is devoted to the analysis of the current state of waste management in the Liberec Region with a focus on key technologies. The mentioned approaches and recommendations can be further applied to any region of the Czech Republic.
Similar solution identification in the field of stochastic simulation related to waste management
Gal, Pavel ; Frýba, Lukáš (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
The Master’s thesis deals with the issue of collecting mixed municipal waste from producers to a~waste-to-energy or landfills. The initial chapters are aimed to waste legislation and transportation of the waste by road freight transport across Europe. The objective is to collect the data, that are required for calculation in tool NERUDA. The next part describes the cluster analysis and different approaches in it. The selected methods of cluster analysis are apllied to the logistic task in the final chapters. The cluster analysis is considered from different aspects. The results are visualized using the software ArcGIS.
Mathematical model for Transportation Problem in Waste Management
Procházka, Vít ; Touš, Michal (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the development of the mathematical model of transportation problem in waste management, which is used for analysis of current issue of mixed municipal waste treatment in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of thesis aims to introduce basic terms of graph theory and optimization with the focus on linear programming. The second part aims to development of the model and its implementation to GAMS. And next, the post-processing of results is shown, vizualization in ArcGIS included.
Analysis of Municipal Solid Waste Treatment Possibilities in Microregion
Ucekaj, Vladimír ; Ochodek, Tadeáš (referee) ; Klemeš,, Jiri (referee) ; Bébar, Ladislav (advisor)
n accordance with Council Directive 1999/31/EC implemented by Regulation number 294/2005 Sb., Czech Republic has agreed to reduce landfilling of biodegradable material contained in mixed municipal waste (BDMW) by 50 % in comparison with 1995 starting January 1, 2013. This causes several problems to municipalities as the issue of mixed municipal waste (MMW) treatment is not handled at any level of state administration. PhD thesis tackles the question which level of state administration - national, regional, or microregional or municipal - should be responsible for waste treatment and whether it is economical and efficient, or not.
Household waste transport
Gal, Pavel ; Frýba, Lukáš (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis deals with issue of collection of mixed municipal waste to waste-to-energy. The main part is aimed to transportation of waste using rail freight or road freight transport. It shows the advantages of rail transport and compares transport in term of emissions and economy. The final chapter deals with preparation data for optimization problem and visualization of them using software ArcGIS.
Refuse Derived Fuel
Exnerová, Anežka ; Kalivodová, Markéta (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the Waste-to-Energy topic focusing on refuse derived fuels. The aim of the first part is to describe what refuse derived fuels are, what are their properties and composition. From this point of view, we determine a comparison with municipal solid waste. Second part is about production process. Possible parameters of refuse derived fuels and the technological process of mechanical-biological treatment are presented here. Following part is focused on fuel combustion. This chapter lists combustion plants and emissions from the incineration of waste and refuse derived fuel.
Effective methods for mechanical treatment of waste
Harnová, Veronika ; Putna, Ondřej (referee) ; Kropáč, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor's thesis is the description and technical-economic evaluation of Czech municipal waste management and sorting lines operation. The main part of the thesis consists of a description of choices of automatic sorting systems in sorting lines operation. The most important part is the analysis of alternative municipal waste collection containers with respect to different settings of manual or automatic sorting lines.
Influence of socio-economic factors on the composition of waste: statistical approach
Jordánová, Petra ; Pavlas, Martin (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with comparison of mixed municipal waste in different areas in the Czech Republic. Statistical apparatus needed for subsequent data is described in the first part. There is discussed problematics of random variable, the probability distribution and hypotheses that will be used in this work. The second part involves a data set analysis. The merit of this thesis is hypothesis testing of the difference in mixed municipal waste composition between chosen areas and built-up area types. At the end an approach for estimate of impact factors of waste composition using correlation and regression analysis will be given. This work brings a benefit in current stratification evaluation process and recommendation of changes in selected factors.
